Making quality instruments starts with sourcing and selecting the finest raw materials.
With the exception of bags, belts and engraving, I make all parts of my pipes in my workshop in Edzell - woodwork, reeds and metalwork – following very traditional methods. All the turning is done between a Colchester Student and Wadkin woodturning lathes. Both are great work horses. My Wadkin wood-turning lathe, bought from an Edinburgh School clearance sale in 1993, has been with me throughout my 30+ year pipe-making journey.
